Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self‑motivated System Engineer who thrives in a fast‑paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks within our Rolling Stock Engineering Department. The position is based in Pistoia or Napoli - IT. Accountabilities Prepare System Requirements Specifications (Sy RS) Define and manage system interfaces (both internal and external) throughout the entire project lifecycle Analyze and assess technical documentation from suppliers Prepare and verify system installation/integration drawings/specifications Conduct design reviews (both internal and with suppliers) for the assigned onboard systems, under the supervision of relevant Engineering Managers and Project Engineers Prepare Functional Requirements Specifications (FRS) as well as Functional Test Specifications (FTS) (including performance tests) for the assigned onboard systems Attend at system stand‑alone type test and review of type test reports Support onboard integration, performance testing and validation phases Review design documentation with customers and suppliers Ensure compliance with input requirements, international railway regulations and standards and project constraints (time, cost, quality) Prepare the documentation required for vehicle approval and support the homologation phase Required Skills/Knowledge Experience (3‑5 years) in the Railway sector or in complex industrial environments Good knowledge of main railway regulations and standards Good knowledge of IBM DOORS requirements management tool Good knowledge of engineering processes and railway operations Good knowledge of system engineering and requirements management disciplines Good knowledge of RAMS principles and processes Good knowledge of design verification and validation methodologies Good knowledge of electrical / mechanical design software (Auto CAD, Creo, Catia, etc.) Good knowledge of electrical, electronic and mechanical engineering disciplines Good knowledge of office automation software (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.) Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast‑paced, international and multicultural environment Good organizational skills, alongside team‑working, problem‑solving and results‑driven mindset Ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders (including suppliers, partners, customers) Ability to work within project teams under minimal supervision Availability for occasional short‑term national and international business trips Desired Skills/Knowledge Fast learner with strong willingness to stay up to date with technological developments Good business acumen combined with solid technical skills Good communication and interpersonal skills Education/Qualifications Master's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics disciplines preferred).
