POSITION PURPOSE

To create and maintain a positive, stimulating environment that promotes a culture of learning and fosters school readiness in the community. Establish clear objectives for all lessons. Facilitate the Traveling Preschool Bus initiative. Assess family needs and provide developmentally appropriate information, guidance, and support to parents.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Plan, create, and implement a dynamic preschool classroom environment conducive to learning to support the physical, social, and emotional development of children and families.
  • Facilitate developmentally appropriate early childhood play‑based activities for children and families birth through 5 years to encourage curiosity, exploration, and problem‑solving.
  • Model appropriate parent-child interaction and positive parenting techniques.
  • Select materials and activities appropriate for the program.
  • Lead team to develop lesson plans and implement best practices to provide comprehensive services to the children and parents being served.
  • Responsible for completing and maintaining all documentation and essential records as required by the program in a timely and comprehensive manner.
  • Represent the District's Traveling Preschool Bus program at community events supporting children and parents.
  • Ensure parent involvement, engagement, and awareness of the Traveling Preschool Bus program.
  • Coordinate and promote site visit locations in the community.
  • Advocate for parents in accessing resources and support services as needed.
  • Conduct child developmental screenings.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Coordinator of Early Childhood, Chief Instructional Services Officer, Superintendent or other district office administrator as designated by the Superintendent.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a valid South Carolina teaching certificate or be able to obtain one within 60 days from being hired.
  • Must be Highly Qualified in the content area or be able to become Highly Qualified within 60 days from being hired.

EXPERIENCE

Must have completed a program of study in education from an accredited college or university
