R&D Team Lead

Role and Responsibilities

In this role, you will be part of a team responsible for electrical testing on low‑voltage circuit breakers and switchboards, contributing to the preparation of test setups, the interpretation of results and the preparation of test reports for both Research & Development (R&D) and certification purposes. The work model contributes to the ABB Electrification Business area, specifically the Smart Power Division in Bergamo, mainly for the Research and Development Department and external customers.

  • Define the test details, sequences, methods of execution or testing procedures, equipment and instrumentation to be used, referencing applicable standards; prepare the necessary test set‑up, required measuring instruments, connect the device under test on the testing plant, and execute tests.
  • Analyze test results according to the applicable standard to verify product compliance.
  • Produce and develop the activities required for processing test reports for tested equipment and issue the reports.
  • Propose improvements to existing test techniques, leveraging experience and new equipment, especially for test and measurement equipment.
  • Assist and support customers during testing activities.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma in the Electrotechnical field or Bachelor’s Degree (3 years) in an Electrical or Electronic field.
  • Highly skilled in electrotechnical knowledge.
  • Ability to demonstrate manual skills, analytical capacity, and interpretation of results.
  • Proficient in computer skills (programming knowledge, office software packages, and PLC programming).
  • Passionate about precision, teamwork, and eager to learn with a problem‑solving attitude.
  • Fluent communication in Italian and English.
  • Availability to work rotating shifts.
