The Avionic Systems Engineer is responsible for design, development, validation, and qualification of the Electrical Power Subsystem (EPS) for space missions. As the technical authority for EPS, you will lead architecture definition, component selection, power budgeting, and coordination of activities throughout the project life‑cycle.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the definition, development, and ownership of EPS architecture, including power generation, energy storage, power conditioning, and distribution.
Define and manage EPS requirements, ensuring full traceability from mission/system specifications down to unit level.
Perform power budgets, operational modes, derating rules, and mission‑specific design margins.
Ensure subsystem compliance with radiation, thermal, redundancy, and reliability constraints typical of space environments.
Coordinate the design, implementation, and verification of all EPS units (solar arrays, batteries, PCDUs, regulators, power converters, harnessing, monitoring electronics).
Guide the selection and qualification of components, ensuring compatibility with mission constraints and applicable standards.
Prepare and maintain all technical documentation.
Lead the procurement process for EPS equipment: define Statements of Work (SoWs), evaluate supplier proposals, participate in technical meetings, and review TRBs/MRBs.
Act as the main technical interface with suppliers, ensuring alignment on requirements, performance, schedule, and quality.
Define subsystem‑level verification plans, test specifications, and acceptance criteria.
Support AIV and AIT activities at unit, subsystem, and system levels, including functional testing, environmental tests, and troubleshooting.
Review test procedures and reports, ensuring robust verification and proper closure of anomalies.
Work closely with system engineering, thermal, mechanical, avionics and mission analysis teams to ensure seamless integration of EPS.
Support major program reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, ORR), ensuring readiness and compliance.
Required Skills & Knowledge
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related fields.
7+ years experience in space/automotive industries (more years of experience is considered a plus).
Deep knowledge of power electronics, batteries, solar arrays, DC/DC converters, PCDUs, and energy storage technologies.
Understanding radiation effects, derating rules, reliability engineering, and EEE component selection.
Strong analytical, documentation, and system‑level problem‑solving skills.
Mandatory fluent English (written and spoken); Italian is a plus.
Deep knowledge of AI tools.
Preferred Experience
Experience as Subsystem Lead or Technical Lead in space projects.
Familiarity with ECSS standards, space‑grade component procurement, and qualification processes.
Knowledge of thermal interactions, electromechanical integration, and harness design.
Background in mission operations for EPS or avionics subsystems.
Proactive attitude and ability to work in team and individually.

Salary: €45,000–€60,000 gross per year, plus performance‑based variable component.
Eligibility: Must have the legal right to work in Italy. Not mandatory remote.
