Position Summary

Reports to: Tl’azt’en Nation Executive Director

Wages: 35 to 40/hour

Duration: July 2026 – July 2027 (Pilot Project)

Start date: July 6, 2026

Tl’azt’en Nation seeks a dynamic, organized and reliable manager to oversee its newly created Centre of Excellence Department. The manager will teach the Dakelh language to members that reside in the communities of Tl’azt’en Nation and Dzitlainli (Middle River). The manager will assist with the development, planning, implementation and details of the Tl’azt’en Nation’s Centre of Excellence and Dakelh Language revitalization strategy. The manager will work under the direct supervision of Tl’azt’en Nation’s Executive Director and CoE committee and collaborate with and oversee related positions in the department to enhance the overall experience and success of this important position.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Expressive knowledge of Dakelh Language both oral and written
  • Dakelh language teaching certificate is an asset
  • Experience in language teaching, curriculum development and community programming
  • Strong understanding of Tl’azt’en Nation culture, traditions and protocols
  • Excellent communications and organizational skills
  • Ability to work respectfully with elders, youth and diverse community members
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills
  • Physical ability to walk, stand and occasionally lift heavy items
  • Operate within a set budget and be financially responsible
  • A valid Class 5 Drivers License and own vehicle
  • Must provide a Criminal Record Clearance

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the Center of Excellence Language Department
  • Implement Tl’azt’en Nation’s Dakelh Language Revitalization strategy
  • Collaborate with and oversee CoE committee and related positions
  • Manage funding, partnerships, related grants and reporting
  • Contribute to curriculum development and program involvement
  • Provide language delivery inclusive to departments and day/evening classes
