Electrical Quantity Surveyor If you’re an Electrical Quantity Surveyor who enjoys being involved from day one and still standing at the finish line, this role will suit you. You’ll take ownership of projects from tender through to final account, and you’ll have the commercial influence to actually make a dent in profitability — not just report on it afterwards. What you’ll be doing (the short version): Building and managing BOQs, budgets, reports and profit plans without needing someone hovering over you. Running interim commercial meetings with clients and internal teams — and being the person who knows exactly where the project stands commercially. Managing subcontractor accounts, valuations and final accounts, ensuring payments follow agreed terms and retentions don’t fall through the cracks. Issuing accurate monthly applications, including remeasures, dayworks, changes and any contract claims worth fighting for. Spotting commercial risks early, raising them quickly and helping to keep surprises to a minimum. Working closely with Planning Engineers to keep progress reporting aligned with reality rather than optimism. Costing and agreeing daily work changes, including remeasurement of subcontractor work and site variations. Keeping meticulous records — because commercial claims don’t win themselves. Negotiating with clients or their representatives when needed. Setting a standard of enthusiasm, accuracy and reliability that others can follow. Keeping information secure and complying with the company’s Information Security Management System. Who you probably are: Someone who combines accuracy with speed — not one or the other. Someone who can prioritise their own workload without waiting to be told what’s urgent. Someone who knows the commercial implications of scheduling decisions and isn’t shy about saying so. Someone who understands that good communication prevents expensive misunderstandings. Why this role matters: The Electrical QS has more influence on project outcomes than most people realise. When you do your job well, the company delivers better margins, fewer disputes and cleaner final accounts. When you don’t, things get messy. We’re hiring someone who takes pride in keeping things un‑messy.
