2026 Italy Graduate Civil & Structural Engineering Career Path

Overview

As part of Mott MacDonald’s graduate programmes, you will join a team of civil and structural engineers working on the design and delivery of low‑carbon transmission infrastructure. You will support the transition to clean energy by contributing to projects across front‑end engineering design, detailed design, civil and structural design, feasibility studies and site assessments.

Responsibilities

• Support the design of transmission and distribution infrastructure for renewable energy interconnectors.
• Participate in front‑end engineering design (FEED) and detailed design phases.
• Develop civil works design including platforms, earthworks, embankments, retaining walls, access roads and drainage systems.
• Perform structural design of foundations, beams, columns and connections.
• Assist in feasibility studies and optioneering exercises.
• Visit sites to assess conditions and support construction phases as needed.

Candidate Specification

• Recent graduate with less than 12 months relevant experience (excluding placements).
• Degree: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering, obtained no earlier than 2024 (or expected to be completed).
• Master’s degree may be required for some opportunities.
• Strong initiative, effective communication with clients and colleagues, high‑quality written work, structured analytical problem‑solving skills.
• Fluent in Italian and English.
