Overview
Our team, based in the United Kingdom and Italy, is growing and we are looking for a Mechanical/Process Engineer to join us.
We are seeking a mechanical/process engineer with experience in combined cycles who can support our detailed design thermal process engineering team and contribute to Owner’s Engineering services, with opportunities to progress into a lead role over time.
You will work closely with existing team members, clients, and subcontractors and be a key part of Mott MacDonald’s growth in Italy.
Key responsibilities
Supporting project delivery and contributing to proposals for combined cycle projects, simple cycle gas turbine plants, hydrogen, CCUS and energy transition projects
Supporting the process engineering team in delivering detailed design services
Working on projects delivering consultancy and Owner’s Engineering services
Collaborating with other Mott MacDonald Group offices on project delivery and proposals
Travelling abroad to meet clients during project delivery and proposal stages
Delivering work in accordance with agreed schedules at various stages, including feasibility, planning, preparation of tender‑stage technical drawings and specifications, production of construction drawings, and design compliance monitoring during construction for power plant applications
Coordinating with client project teams and internal team disciplines within Mott MacDonald, including civil, mechanical, EC&I, and environmental teams
Supporting delivery of projects and business development activities in new technologies including hydrogen, CCUS, and the wider energy transition
Essential qualifications
Mechanical or Process Engineer with an MSc degree in Mechanical or Process Engineering and experience in thermal power plant design and project implementation, preferably covering proposal through to implementation (engineering, procurement, construction) and performance testing
Experience on international projects and in international environments
Strong practical knowledge of gas turbines, steam turbines, steam and water cycle, BoP systems for power plants
Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams (experience supporting or mentoring others is beneficial)
Good understanding of the basic and detailed design of thermal power plants, including combined cycles, open cycle gas turbines, CHP, etc.
Excellent oral and communication skills, with proficiency in English
