Lead Financial Accountant – IFRS, R2R & Financial Reporting
Milan, Italy | Hybrid
We are partnering with a fast-growing international organisation seeking a Lead Financial Accountant to join its Record-to-Report (R2R) finance team.
This role will focus on end-to-end financial reporting, statutory compliance, process optimisation, and finance transformation initiatives across multinational operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes ensuring IFRS and local GAAP compliance
- Manage complex accounting activities including reconciliations, accruals, intercompany accounting, and statutory reporting
- Prepare and review statutory financial statements in coordination with external partners
- Deliver variance analysis across payroll, leasing, fixed assets, and operational finance areas
- Drive finance process automation and continuous improvement initiatives using tools such as Power BI, SQL, or Python
- Collaborate closely with Finance, Payroll, Tax, Audit, and cross-functional stakeholders
- Mentor and support junior finance team members, promoting best practice across the R2R function
- Support financial controls, reporting accuracy, and process standardisation initiatives
Requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACCA, CPA, CIMA or equivalent) or actively pursuing qualification
- Strong IFRS and statutory reporting expertise
- Proven experience managing month-end and year-end close processes within multinational environments
- Strong ERP systems experience (SAP, Oracle, Workday or similar)
- Advanced Excel skills with exposure to Power BI, SQL, or Python preferred
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced, high-growth environments
