Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Planning Engineer to support a major LNG project during its development and execution phases.
This role is responsible for all planning and scheduling activities related to the commissioning scope, ensuring alignment with project requirements, processes, and reporting standards. Initially based in Milan, the position will transition to a rotational role at the Afungi site as construction progresses.
Working closely with project management, contractors, and multiple stakeholders, you will play a key role in ensuring commissioning activities are effectively planned, integrated, and delivered in line with overall project objectives.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain commissioning schedules in coordination with package planners
Monitor progress, perform variance analysis, and provide regular forecast updates
Establish and manage project schedule coding structures based on systems and subsystems
Ensure alignment with project, corporate, and stakeholder reporting requirements
Review contractor and subcontractor pre-commissioning and commissioning schedules
Challenge assumptions relating to durations, sequencing, and critical path
Develop independent schedules to validate contractor plans
Integrate commissioning activities with startup, upstream, and interface scopes
Coordinate with yard and site teams to ensure schedule alignment across all project phases
Prepare and communicate progress reports, KPIs, and performance metrics
Track schedule risks, contingency usage, and approved changes
Participate in project meetings and support digitalisation initiatives
Ensure compliance with project procedures for approvals, invoicing, and reporting
Promote and demonstrate strong HSSE leadership and adherence to company policies
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Management, or similar
10+ years’ experience in project controls within major oil & gas developments
Strong experience in commissioning and start-up planning for large-scale oil & gas or LNG projects
Proven ability to manage complex project schedules and interfaces across multiple stakeholders
Experience reviewing and challenging contractor schedules and integrating multi-package plans
Strong understanding of project reporting, KPI tracking, and risk analysis
Proficient in planning tools including Primavera P6, Acumen Fuse, Microsoft Project, Milestones Pro, Thinkcell, and Excel
Familiarity with corporate and project procedures within major operators
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Detail-oriented, organised, and able to work within multicultural, international environments
Fluent English required; Portuguese and/or French advantageous
