Key Job Responsibilities
- Setting and maintaining the highest standard for safety and actively promoting a world‑class safety culture
- Monitoring the key performance metrics for a significant number of large‑scale Data Centres distributed across multiple AWS owned and co‑location sites, continuously driving improvements while delivering performance against said metrics
- Delivering 100% uptime on all customer‑supporting infrastructure
- Strategic planning and execution of all corrective and preventative maintenance activities on all mission‑critical infrastructure
- Managing strong technical teams with responsibility for the training and/or development of others to ensure operational excellence and career development
- Successful delivery of strategic projects on critical infrastructure
- Successful delivery of build‑out and retrofit of facility infrastructure in existing and new regional locations
- Managing vendor performance by consistently setting high standards, driving accountability and conducting regular performance reviews
- Risk management: adopting and planning corporate risk strategy
- Critical event response readiness (planning, escalation/incident management, customer‑impacting event management response and recovery)
- Experience in working and managing within a complex organizational matrix, managing and growing relationships between cross‑functional teams
A Day in the Life
As a facility manager, you will be at the forefront of ensuring smooth operation of our data centre infrastructure, coordinating with engineering, safety, and support teams to address operational challenges and drive continuous improvement.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant engineering discipline or demonstrable equivalent (lesser qualification plus equivalent work experience)
- 5+ years’ experience in a high‑volume mission‑critical operational environment (e.g., data center, healthcare, high technology manufacturing, large‑scale production, aviation maintenance) preferably 7x24x365 operational experience and responsibilities
- First‑hand knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, employee relations, leadership techniques, operational performance, and coordination of people and resources
- Very good command of English
- Full EU/IT driving license
Preferred Qualifications
- 10 years relevant industry‑related experience
- Demonstrate key electrical and mechanical competencies and theory
- Know and apply safe electrical practice according to guidelines set by relevant electrical safety supervisory bodies
- Have a strong working knowledge of the purpose and infrastructure of a Data Center, including UPS, backup generator systems, generic mechanical‑room infrastructure such as chillers, cooler units, and fan controls
- Fundamental knowledge of network design and layout (copper / fibre) as well as low / high voltage cabling, BMS systems, monitoring and alarming systems
