About the Role
We are seeking an Integration Architect, a senior technical figure to act as our internal technical authority and the guardian of our digital ecosystem's consistency. In an environment driven by SaaS platforms (Salesforce, Billing systems) and solutions developed by external partners, this role is critical for governing complexity by blending a high-level vision with a concrete capacity for technical intervention. The position is based in Milan or Rome, in the S&EM Italy unit.
You will be responsible for the integration strategy for the entire B2B transformation program. You will follow the group standards that all partners must adhere to, and serve as the go-to person for resolving cross-platform issues. Your mission is to transform a set of heterogeneous systems into a single, cohesive, and high-performing architecture.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Governance of Vendors: Analyze and validate the technical solution proposals from external partners. Ensure their designs are robust, scalable, and aligned with our strategies.
- API & Integration Strategy Definition: Design and document the company's API strategy. Define the interface "contracts" (API contracts), security standards (e.g., OAuth2), and protocols that all systems, internal and external, must comply with.
- Architectural Review Board: Act as the primary technical reviewer and approver for all new integrations and architectural changes proposed by the different teams.
- Tactical Development & Prototyping: Develop and maintain "glue code" components (e.g., automation scripts, small cloud functions, custom connectors) to facilitate integration or bridge functional gaps not covered by vendors. Build functional Proofs of Concept (PoCs) and prototypes to validate new technical approaches.
- Cybersecurity Oversight: Ensure that all integration solutions adhere to the company’s cybersecurity policies and best practices. Collaborate with security teams to identify risks, enforce security-by-design principles, and guarantee the protection of data across all systems.
Qualifications
- A degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering)
- Experience in the technical management of external vendors and in reviewing technical documentation produced by third parties.
- Proven experience of 3+ years in an Integration Architect role.
- Deep knowledge of microservices architecture, API Gateways, enterprise integration patterns, and security protocols.
- Ability to communicate authoritatively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders. You must be able to technically challenge a vendor and, at the same time, explain complex concepts to the business.
- Previous experience within the Energy & Utilities sector is a strong advantage.
- Solid and recent hands‑on development skills (e.g., in Python, Node.js, Java, or C#). The ideal candidate has not left coding behind, but instead uses it as a strategic tool to automate, prototype, and solve complex integration challenges.
- Hands‑on experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and/or event‑driven systems (e.g., Kafka).
Contract Type
Permanent contract according to local labour law.
