Role Overview As a Laboratory Analyst, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, quality, and consistency of our products through rigorous scientific testing and analysis. You will work within a dynamic, collaborative team environment to support the supply chain with precise laboratory data that drives informed decision‑making and continuous improvement. The laboratory operates in accordance with the ISO 9001 standard, requiring strong documentation practices, accurate record‑keeping, and the maintenance of quality systems and processes. This is a maternity cover position with an offered contract duration of 12‑15 months. Education & Experience Bachelor's Degree in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Food Technology, or a related field. Practical experience gained through academic coursework, research projects, internships, case studies, or student organisations focused on analytical laboratory topics. Minimum of 2 years' experience working in an analytical or quality control laboratory environment. Responsibilities Independently perform sample analysis using a range of analytical techniques, including UHPLC‑MS/MS, UHPLC, GC‑FID, GC‑MS/MS, ICP‑MS, and UV‑VIS. Conduct analytical method development, validation, and routine sample analysis. Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot analytical equipment to ensure optimal performance. Operate effectively within a regulated environment, including compliance with ISO 9001:2015, ISO 17025, and GLP standards. Work according to the laboratory schedule and support operational priorities. Apply statistical analysis techniques to support data interpretation and decision‑making. Provide training and guidance to junior laboratory staff. Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. Utilise standard computer applications and laboratory systems, including Excel, Word, Power Point, Lab LIMS, and data analysis tools. Quickly learn and adapt to new instrument software and laboratory systems, applying theoretical knowledge effectively in practice. Apply Operational Excellence tools and techniques to drive continuous improvement, optimise processes, and eliminate waste. Maintain a good working knowledge of written and spoken English; Italian language proficiency is a plus. Soft Skills & Behaviours Collaborate effectively within a team environment, contributing to shared goals and supporting collective learning and development. Communicate clearly and professionally when engaging with instrument suppliers, service technicians and internal stakeholders. Demonstrate reliability and accountability by managing assigned tasks, meeting deadlines and consistently delivering on commitments.
