As part of our strategic growth agenda, we are establishing a Lease and Portfolio Management Center of Excellence (CoE) within our Global Real Estate function and are hiring a new Lease & Portfolio Management Lead to build and lead this capability.
The role is open globally, with preferred locations set close to our main ABB facilities. It reports to the global Head of Real Estate and to the Business Area Real Estate Manager for Motion.
This newly created role combines strategic leadership with operational execution. You will design, implement, and run a centralized framework for lease administration and portfolio management, ensuring accuracy, consistency, compliance, and transparency across the global real estate portfolio.
You will collaborate across Finance, Legal, Real Estate, and other functions, and serve as the single source of truth for lease and portfolio data.
Key Responsibilities
Center of Excellence Setup & Governance
Design and implement the Lease & Portfolio Management Center of Excellence, including scope, operating model, governance, and KPIs
Define and document global standards, processes, and controls for lease and portfolio management
Act as the global subject matter expert for lease and portfolio management topics
Lease Administration & Portfolio Management
Lead the implementation of a new lease and portfolio management tool
Own end‑to‑end lease administration activities across the global portfolio, including:
Lease abstraction and data validation
Critical date management (renewals, expiries, options)
Rent, escalation, indexation, and payment tracking
Compliance with lease terms and contractual obligations
Maintain a global view of the real estate lease portfolio, supporting transparency, optimization, and decision‑making
Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across lease and portfolio management systems
Build and develop a centralized lease and portfolio management team, as the CoE matures
Stakeholder & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with Real Estate, Finance, Accounting, Legal, Tax, and Procurement
Support financial close activities, audits, and reporting (including lease accounting inputs under applicable standards)
Act as a key interface with external service providers and landlords
Continuous Improvement & Digitization
Drive process efficiency, standardization, and automation across lease and portfolio management
Support selection, implementation, and optimization of digital tools and systems
Develop portfolio dashboards and reporting to enhance transparency, insights, and decision‑making
Risk, Compliance & Controls
Establish and maintain internal controls related to lease and portfolio management
Identify risks, inconsistencies, or compliance gaps and drive remediation
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
10+ years of experience in lease administration, real estate operations, or portfolio management, preferably in a global environment
Proven experience establishing or transforming processes, operating models, or shared‑service capabilities
Strong understanding of commercial lease structures, terminology, data requirements, and governance practices
Hands‑on experience with lease and portfolio management systems, including implementation, optimization, or data quality improvement
Familiarity with lease accounting requirements, such as IFRS 16 or ASC 842, and experience supporting audits, reporting, or financial close activities
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience partnering across Real Estate, Finance, Legal, and external service providers
Structured, detail‑oriented, and data‑driven, with the ability to operate hands‑on, think strategically, manage ambiguity, and build new capabilities with integrity and ownership

In the US, while base salary is determined by things such as the successful applicant’s qualifications and experience, this position is expected to pay between $142'500 and $237’500 annually and is eligible for a short-term incentive plan/annual bonus.
