Responsibilities
Société Générale Corporate & Investment Banking (SG CIB) is a leading European investment bank delivering high value‑added financial solutions through strong local coverage and global expertise.
The M&A Director is responsible for originating, leading, and executing complex M&A and Private Equity‑related transactions across buy‑side and sell‑side mandates. The role requires full accountability for transaction delivery, senior client relationship management, and the strategic positioning of SG CIB in competitive advisory situations, in Italy and on cross‑border transactions. The Director will advise corporates and private equity sponsors on strategic opportunities and will play a visible role in franchise development.
Tasks and responsibilities
- Originate and execute M&A and Private Equity‑related transactions, across buy‑side and sell‑side mandates
- Advise clients on strategic transactions, investments, and divestments
- Lead marketing activities, pitches, and client engagement
- Manage transaction execution, including due diligence, financial analysis, valuation, and negotiation
- Coordinate internal teams and supervise junior bankers
- Actively integrate ESG considerations into origination strategy and client advisory
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory, risk, and conduct standards
Required profile Studies & experience
- Degree from a leading Business School or University
- Demonstrated track record in originating and executing M&A transactions involving corporates and private equity sponsors
- Strong expertise in Corporate Finance and Investment Banking products
Language skills
- Italian: C2
- English: C1
Technical, operational & Soft skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial databases
- Excellent communication, advisory, and negotiation skills
- Solid understanding of financial, operational, and compliance risks
