At SGS, we are looking for an experienced Product Certification Operational Manager to lead our Industrial Safety team in Italy.

SGS Industrial Safety operates in the following areas:

Mechanical Safety (machinery, lifts, pressure vessels)

Functional and Process Safety

Structural Safety (construction products)

Fire & Explosion Safety (ATEX)

Electrical Safety

Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)

This is a strategic leadership role combining operational management, business development, and technical excellence within the Testing, Inspection & Certification (TIC) industry. You will be responsible for driving business performance, ensuring compliance with national and international accreditation requirements, and supporting the growth of our Industrial Safety services across Italy and the SGS global network.

What you'll do

Lead the strategic and operational management of Industrial Safetyin Italy.

Take full ownership of operational performance, resource planning, and P&L.

Ensure the maintenance and extension of national and international accreditations and regulatory authorizations.

Develop and expand our Industrial Safety service portfolio in line with market trends and emerging industry needs.

Lead and develop internal teams and external technical experts, promoting capability development through coaching and collaboration.

Partner with SGS affiliates worldwide to deliver international projects and strengthen cross-border collaboration.

Support commercial growth by contributing to business development and client engagement activities.

Degree in Engineering or another relevant technical discipline.

Business-level proficiency in English

Minimum of 10 years’ experience in TIC, Technical Services, or Operations

Proven expertise in statutory and regulatory compliance services across competitive markets.

Practical experience with inspection, testing and conformity assessments under EU regulatory framework, including: Machinery and Lifts

Pressure Equipment (static and transportable)

ATEX (equipment and hazardous zones)

Construction Products

NDT

Familiarity with audit practices aligned with EN ISO 19011, ideally verified by a recognized organization.

Experience handling claims, complaints, and operational risk management.

Prior involvement in internationally structured, matrix-based organizations is advantageous.
