As a Clinical Pathologist, the majority of your duties involve, but are not limited to, providing clients with diagnostic evaluation in the area of clinical pathology and providing necessary follow-up consultation. A high level of importance is placed on quality, timeliness, customer service, and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

In This Role

  • Responsible for gross and/or microscopic examination of clinical pathology specimens and preparation of pathology reports in a timely manner.
  • Meet caseload and turnaround expectations.
  • Provide telephone consultations to clients.
  • Consult with and assist other pathologists as needed to promote collegiality.
  • Partner with, advise, and assist laboratory personnel in proper specimen processing techniques, and function as the pathologist on duty.
  • Promote the growth of IDEXX by actively participating in pathologist meetings and developing/maintaining professional relationships with clients.
  • Participate in quality control programs.
  • Maintain proficiency and develop diagnostic skills through regular continuing education.
  • Time may be provided off routine diagnostic responsibilities to allow the pathologist to engage in other professional activities as approved by management, improving the function or professional reputation of IDEXX.

What You Will Need To Succeed

  • Fluent in English.
  • Familiar with current topics and issues in clinical veterinary medicine.
  • Able to type and use dictation equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Service‑oriented attitude.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Computer skills are required.
  • Experience in a veterinary diagnostic laboratory is preferred.

Certifications

  • Board certification in clinical pathology – European College of Veterinary Clinical Pathology (ECVCP) preferred or American College of Veterinary Pathology (ACVP).
  • Board‑eligible pathologists encouraged; candidate will be supported when studying for boards.
