Position Summary The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading all engineering projects at the Caivano Plant focused on chemical process optimization, cost and energy consumption reduction, ensuring safe, reliable and efficient operation of all manufacturing assets, utilities and infrastructures of the plant. The Engineering Manager develops capital investment plans aligned with business objectives, driving the execution of all capital projects, asset reliability improvement initiatives and continuous modernization programs of the plant. The position is accountable for the Energy Management System as plant RSGE, in accordance with ISO 50001 requirements and serves as the Plant Process Safety Coordinator, ensuring the implementation of the PPG Process Safety Management System, fostering a strong safety culture throughout the site. The Engineering Manager reports directly to the Plant Manager and is a key member of the Plant Leadership Team. Main Accountabilities Health, Safety, Environment and Process SafetyEnsure full compliance with Company EHS standards, local regulations and applicable legal requirements. Lead engineering activities with a strong focus on personnel safety, process safety and environmental protection. Ensure all engineering and maintenance activities are executed according to safe work practices, permit-to-work requirements and contractor management procedures. Act as Plant Process Safety Coordinator and ensure the implementation and continuous improvement of Process Safety Management (PSM) practices. Coordinate Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), HAZOP studies and Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA), for all projects and assets modification activities. Monitor process safety performance indicators and lead initiatives to reduce process safety risks. Participate proactively in the EHS Leadership Team and contribute to the continuous improvement of EHS performance. Manage and govern the Management of Change (MOC) process for technical, organizational and procedural changes. Support investigation of process safety incidents, near misses and significant events, identifying root causes and corrective actions. Manage, in collaboration with local EHS, authorization and permitting processes related to the area of responsibility.Engineering and Asset ManagementEnsure safe, reliable and cost-effective operation of plant assets, utilities and infrastructure by proposing and executing complex improvement projects. Develop and implement asset reliability and lifecycle management strategies. Ensure technical standards, engineering specifications and plant documentation are maintained and continuously updated. Support production and operations teams by providing technical expertise and troubleshooting capabilities. Follow and implement PPG global standardization strategies, sharing best-practices and collaborating to the technological integration of all PPG facilities.Capital Projects and InvestmentsDevelop, justify and manage the annual Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) plan. Lead engineering projects from concept development through design, procurement, construction, commissioning and start-up. Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and according to defined technical specifications. Coordinate internal and external resources, engineering contractors and suppliers. Implement modernization and automation projects to improve operational performance, productivity and sustainability. Ensure all investments comply with PPG engineering standards and applicable regulations.Energy Management (ISO 50001)Serve as the plant Energy Management Responsible (RSGE) and ensure the effective maintenance of the Energy Management System according to ISO 50001. Establish, monitor and continuously improve plant energy performance objectives and targets. Lead energy reviews, identification of significant energy users and energy performance improvement initiatives. Monitor energy consumption, energy KPIs and performance indicators to identify improvement opportunities. Promote energy efficiency projects, optimization of utilities and reduction of energy-related costs. Coordinate internal and external audits related to the Energy Management System. Ensure compliance with applicable energy regulations and corporate sustainability requirements. Drive employee awareness and engagement regarding energy efficiency and responsible energy use.Quality and Operational ExcellenceSupport the achievement and maintenance of quality standards for products, processes and utilities. Participate proactively in the Quality Leadership Team and support continuous quality improvement initiatives. Ensure engineering changes are properly assessed and implemented to maintain product quality and regulatory compliance. Support Operational Excellence, Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement programs. Drive productivity, waste reduction and cost optimization initiatives through engineering solutions.Budget and Resource ManagementDevelop and manage the Engineering Department operating budget. Control project expenditures and ensure effective utilization of approved investment funds. Build organizational capability through coaching, development and performance management of engineering personnel.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)Zero serious safety and process safety incidents. Closure rate of PHA, HAZOP and MOC action items. CAPEX delivery on time and in budget. Energy consumption and energy efficiency improvement targets. ISO 50001 certification compliance and audit performance. Contribution to the reduction of unplanned downtime.Required Qualifications And ExperienceDegree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial or equivalent). Significant experience in engineering, maintenance and project management within a manufacturing or process industry environment, 4-5 years Strong knowledge of Process Safety Management principles, including PHA/HAZOP and MOC processes. Knowledge and practical experience with ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems. Experience managing CAPEX projects and multidisciplinary technical teams. Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills. Knowledge of EHS regulations, engineering standards and asset reliability methodologies.
