Hitachi is looking for an enthusiastic, self‑motivated Telecom Integration & Physical Architecture Engineer who thrives in a fast‑paced environment. The successful candidate will perform a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic duties. The position is based in Piossasco (TO), Italy.
Requirements and Soft Skills- Engineering master’s degree (mainly in electronic, computer science, telecommunications, or electrical)
- Preferred experience in design and configuration of transport systems, rail vehicles and rolling stock subsystems, and automation of transportation systems
- Capability to drive and manage the definition and resolution of multiple interfaces among devices and components in complex integrated systems
- Attitude toward a global view in design processes, with the ability to extrapolate key factors and data in complex technical scenarios
- Capability to work on multiple and different projects
- Strong goal‑oriented approach to activity execution
- Ability to synthesize project and contractual requirements
- Orientation to innovation and efficiency
- Strong problem‑solving skills in integration and functional interface processes, including reverse engineering and performance analysis
- Good level of written and spoken English
- High ability to work in a team and commitment to team spirit
- Availability to travel nationally and internationally on short notice and to work abroad for short‑to‑medium terms on site
- Guarantee conformity and compliance of the Telecom Integration & Physical Architecture design to contractual requirements.
- Perform design review of main subsystems, especially telecom subsystems, and their performance impacting system and on‑board interfaces.
- Manage the correct definition and resolution of all main functional interfaces.
- Provide expertise and support for designing integrated on‑board functionality.
- Support Tender and Bid teams for vehicle integration consistent with system configuration and architecture deliverables.
- Support definition of the main subsystem and system integrated test plan and procedures affecting the vehicle and its interfaces.
- Support the project team in handling customer requests, clarifications, design reviews and requirement analysis.
- Attend and support FAT, SAT, SIT and lab tests.
- Strong support for execution of system commissioning focusing on vehicle and telecom‑related tests and procedures.
- Ensure that each component of the transport system performs correctly and consistently with overall contractual requirements, applicable norms and regulations.
- Contribute to overall system architecture design by identifying interfaces among main technological sub‑systems distributed across the system (on‑board, wayside and central parts).
- Prepare telecom integration & physical architecture deliverables such as overall system architecture drawings, vehicle system architecture drawings, data flow diagrams, interface diagrams, timing and synchronization architecture, and various platform diagrams.
- Manage reviews and comments from subsystems through the VAS/G‑FOR process.
- Submit deliverables to the client and manage client comments.
- Ensure timely delivery of system architecture documentation to monitor and control key interface and performance factors.
- Define and verify main functional interfaces through “Functional Interfaces” drawings.
- Support definition of system guidelines for alarms, events management, and human‑machine interface design, including checking alarm lists.
- Ensure integration design activities for all telecom subsystems within TLC‑TLC and TLC‑external systems.
- Identify and manage main internal and external interfaces.
- Support site tests relevant to telecom integration, stress testing, and overall performance assurance.
- Support troubleshooting and reverse engineering during revenue service period.
Technical degree or equivalent technical background.
