As a Telecom System Integration Engineer at Hitachi Rail, you will own and operate the onboard information ecosystem (OBIS) and its subsystems. You’ll work across hardware, software, networks, and field conditions to ensure correct configuration, performance, and reliable operation. The role spans from deployment and testing to field support and maintenance, collaborating with cross‑functional teams. You’ll shape how onboard ICT solutions integrate with wayside systems, driving robust, validated implementations. This is a hands‑on position in a fast‑paced rail environment with a clear focus on reliability and safety. Own and maintain the Onboard Passenger & Information System (OBIS) and integrated subsystems Configure operating systems, network components, software services, and onboard devices Perform system diagnostics, troubleshooting, and log/packet analysis Validate interfaces and data flows between onboard and wayside systems Support field activities during testing, commissioning, and service introduction Deploy software updates, patches, configurations, and perform health checks Monitor system performance, identify anomalies, and implement corrective actions Collaborate with engineering, software, telecom, and commissioning teams to integrate solutions Translate design and interface documentation into operational configurations and validation procedures Prepare technical reports and documentation after field activities Full ownership of railway onboard environment across hardware, software, OS, networks, data flows, interfaces, and field conditions Experience managing Linux (Oracle/RHEL) and Windows Server platforms with scripting, log/packet analysis, performance monitoring, and HA environments Networking fundamentals including VLANs, routing, and advanced network troubleshooting Knowledge of REST APIs, SIP, RTP/RTSP, MQTT, and telecom protocols Containerization with Docker, Swarm, Portainer and microservice architectures Ability to interpret technical design documents and translate them into configurations and validation tasks
