About The Role
Kong is looking for a Principal Product Manager to join the team building the next generation of API, Event, and AI Gateway data planes. This highly impactful role will shape Kong’s capabilities and user experience for years to come.
What You’ll Do
Define and drive product vision by collaborating with engineering, design, and field teams to create a clear vision and align it with customer needs.
Lead execution: partner with engineering and design leaders to scope, define, and deliver product capabilities and support promotion of Kong’s new runtimes.
Customer‑focused planning: develop deep understanding of customer needs and translate insights into use‑case artifacts, milestone plans, and timelines.
Develop roadmaps and plans: create and maintain comprehensive external‑facing roadmap and related materials clearly communicating product direction and milestones.
Champion communication and transparency: serve as central point of communication, keeping stakeholders informed on progress and building strong relationships with field teams.
What You’ll Bring
7+ years of software product management experience with technical products and end‑users.
Deep understanding of customer needs, onboarding, and product adoption.
Strong grasp of API development and management, including API design.
Proficiency in writing requirements, collaborating with engineers, and communicating technical concepts.
Strong stakeholder engagement and ability to identify core pain points and articulate product vision.
Execution‑driven mindset.

Compensation Range: $192,010 – $250,000
