The Utilities Electrical Operations Lead is responsible for acting as a subject‑matter expert (SME) for all electrical operations related to site utilities infrastructure. The role ensures the reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement of the electrical systems supporting manufacturing operations, while guaranteeing proper maintenance execution, infrastructure planning, and alignment with GMP and safety standards.
In this role, you will
- Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all electrical systems related to utilities infrastructure (e.g., power distribution, transformers, switchgear, backup systems, UPS, etc.);
- Ensure the reliability and availability of electrical utilities supporting pharmaceutical production and critical systems;
- Lead and drive continuous improvement initiatives for the site’s electrical infrastructure, including performance optimization, energy efficiency, and lifecycle management;
- Define, coordinate, and oversee planned infrastructure shutdowns, ensuring minimal impact on operations and full compliance with safety and quality requirements;
- Provide technical oversight of electrical maintenance activities, ensuring proper execution of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance;
- Act as the primary interface with the contractor’s Electrical Lead, ensuring alignment on maintenance strategies and priorities, compliance with site procedures and GMP requirements, quality and effectiveness of maintenance execution, review and validate maintenance plans, procedures, and technical documentation, support CAPA implementation and root cause analysis for electrical failures or deviations, and ensure full compliance with GMP, EHS, and regulatory requirements applicable to pharmaceutical environments;
- Participate in risk assessments, change controls, and deviation management related to electrical systems;
- Contribute to budget planning and cost control for electrical maintenance and infrastructure projects;
- Support and guide troubleshooting activities for complex electrical issues;
- Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to ensure alignment between utilities performance and manufacturing needs;
- Support execution of capital projects related to electrical systems, including design review, installation, commissioning, and qualification; maintain and improve technical standards and best practices for electrical operations; monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to electrical system performance and maintenance effectiveness.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Industrial Engineering with an electrical background.
- Proven experience (minimum of 5 years) in electrical operations or maintenance within industrial environments (Pharmaceutical, biotech, or high‑complexity industries).
- Fluent level of Italian and English (both written and spoken).
Strong knowledge of
- Medium and low voltage electrical systems;
- Power distribution and backup systems;
- Industrial electrical maintenance practices;
- Experience managing contractors and external service providers;
- Experience with CMMS systems and maintenance planning;
- Knowledge of EHS standards and electrical safety regulations.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
- Familiarity with GMP regulations and pharmaceutical compliance requirements;
- RI Certification according to CEI 11-27;
- Problem‑solving and analytical thinking;
- Ability to work cross‑functionally in a complex, regulated environment;
- Effective communication and stakeholder management;
