Purpose of the Position

As a Welding Engineer, you will respond to the Offshore Pipeline Welding Management and be part of the Asset Based Services Business Line within the PIPWE department/Pipeline Technology scope. You will support the Offshore Pipeline Welding team.

Responsibilities
  • Provide welding support to all engineering disciplines to comply with contractual requirements and updated technological criteria;
  • Evaluate client/end user tender documents and requirements relevant to metallic materials and fabrication process;
  • Prepare and issue preliminary welding documents for assigned project or bids;
  • Prepare/update welding general specifications and standards, PMI specification, technical specifications for special metallic materials and welding consumables, NDT table for piping/pipeline construction welds;
  • Review welding documents (WPS/PQR), welding repair and heat treatment procedures issued by manufacturer/vendor and prepare welding qualification matrix and PWPS for piping/pipeline direct hiring construction welds;
  • Define and witness welding trial test for special materials;
  • Manage the welding qualifications phase of a project through supervision of nominated subcontractor or direct hiring, providing required technical support and liaising with personnel on site up to the emission of Welding Book;
  • Participate to welding procedure qualifications in our Pipeline Technologies Center located in Ploiești – Romania;
  • Ensure readiness of welding equipment on vessels/yards prior to installation/production start;
  • Participate in welder qualifications onboard vessels or on site;
  • Follow up on the KPIs, analyze and explain any deviation;
  • Liaise with independent research bodies (e.g. TWI, EWI, IIS) to develop application of new metallic materials, technologies, and tests;
  • Review journals and technical papers for new welding technology, maintain contact with welding equipment suppliers and consumable vendors to promote advances.
Qualifications

Education: Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Materials Engineering.

Experience: 3-5 years as a Welding Engineer in the Oil & Gas industry.

Languages: English minimum B1.

Technical Skills: International Welding Engineer (IWE) Certificate appreciated.

IT Skills: Good skills in using main computer software programs.

Other: Willingness to travel abroad based on projects.
