Position OverviewThe successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following:
Position: Catholic Religious Education (RE) Coordinator
Scope of ResponsibilitiesInside Scope.
Plan, coordinate, and support religious needs in a pluralistic environment.
Provide general programing under the Lead Faith Group Chaplain or designee. Specific religious education programming includes Children’s Liturgy of the Word, Sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, Confirmation program for the youth, Rite of Christian Initiation for Children (RCIC), Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA), and other programmatic activities according to the creeds of each chaplain endorsement.
Outside Scope.
Contractual services to support chapel religious education. No supervision or control by the Government. Sole accountability to the Contractor and the Government.
Education and ExperienceRe coordinators must be able to work unsupervised in a fluid, sometimes stressful environment with a diverse group of volunteers, chapel staff, and other faith communities. They should possess the ability to maintain healthy interpersonal relationships with co’workers and parishioners.
Be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
Efficient in organizing and managing diverse program elements.
Understand basic budgeting.
Meet all guidelines of the Archdiocese for the Military Services (AMS) if in a Catholic RE position. Obtain AMS certification within 180 days of employment;
maintain the Basic Minimum Certification for 3 years, renewable. Catholic RE must complete AMS certification within 180 days of employment.
General ResponsibilitiesHave reliable transportation and maintain gate pass entry rules.
Maintain professional standards of conduct, dress, and grooming.
Be punctual for appointments, services, and rehearsals. Be in place 15 minutes before each event to unlock the facility, ensuring it is locked-up afterwards.
Be present for the entire period of any contracted service.
Attend weekly staff meetings and monthly large chapel staff meetings.
Recruit and advertise mission objectives for volunteers.
Monitor for fraud, waste, and abuse of DoD facilities and report facility damage to the Facility Manager.
Report lost keys to the Facility Manager.
Comply with all Italian, federal, state, and local laws and Air Force Instructions that apply.
Complete three background checks upon contract award: Installations Records Check (IRC), FBI Fingerprint Check, and Tier 1 Child Care Coverage Check. Renew every 5 years.
Specific ResponsibilitiesMeet regularly with the Chaplain and Community Coordinator to review mission goals.
Implement policies set by the Chaplains and Pastoral Advisory Council.
Organize, plan, and schedule religious services, including Vacation Bible School (VBS).
Conduct orientation and training workshops for volunteers and participants.
Prepare an annual comprehensive RE program plan by July 1 each year, approved by the Lead Faith Group Chaplain. Submit plan by the end of the third quarter of the fiscal year.
Provide inputs to the Lead Faith Group Chaplain and fund requests to the appropriate finance bodies.
Prepare publicity materials: bulletin and pulpit announcements, social media posts, worship aids, program calendars, flyers, permission slips.
Submit weekly after‑action reports with attendance, volunteer numbers, and hours within three days after events.
Maintain a continuity binder with pertinent RE program information.
Ensure all volunteers working with youth below 18 years receive required background checks.
Require an additional background check for Catholic RE coordinators.
Organize at least two volunteer teacher training events per year (Fall and Spring) and one certification event before the start of the RE program.
Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to scheduled class or event, unlock doors if not already open, and secure at conclusion.
Leave / Time‑OffNotify the contracting office as soon as a leave of absence is known. Leaves over 14 calendar days require a substitute.
Substitutes must meet all qualifications and have a completed background check. Name and qualifications submitted at least 14 days in advance of absence.
