Adjunct Faculty – Social Work

Location: Aviano, Italy

Role Overview

University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks adjunct faculty to teach on‑site in Italy for the Social Work program. This field‑focused position supports students in their field placements through experiential instruction, supervision support, and applied mentorship tied to CSWE field education outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Actively engage students through frequent interaction that motivates them to succeed, conveying genuine energy and enthusiasm.
• Guide students in collaboration and application of learning in problem‑ and project‑based learning demonstrations.
• Provide rich and regular constructive feedback, utilizing rubrics effectively for assessment of student work.
• Demonstrate relevant and current subject‑matter expertise, help students connect concepts across their program.
• Provide feedback to program chair on potential curricular improvements.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work or related field from an accredited institution and active LCSW license.
• At least two years of post‑master's professional experience in Social Work.
• Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education strongly preferred.
• Local applicant status;
  must maintain own legalstatus in country.

• International degree holders may be required to submit a translation or degree evaluation from a NACES approved vendor.

Salary

Non‑PhD: $903 – $1,173 per credit hour (Step 1–16). PhD: $931 – $1,215 per credit hour (Step 1–16). Salary commensurate with experience.

• Health coverage: medical, vision, dental, and prescription plans for individuals and families effective from the first of the month following hire. Adjuncts are only eligible for State of Maryland benefits.
