Organization: Friends of The Anna Trust
Location: Remote (United States) with required domestic and international travel, including to Rome, Italy.
About UsFriends of The Anna Trust is a U.S. 501(c)(3) organization established to support The Anna Trust in Rome, Italy. Our mission is to provide a vital safety net and innovative solutions for the long-term care of aging Catholic women religious globally. We are embarking on an ambitious plan to build a $30 million endowment to ensure that the sisters who cared for the world are cared for in their elder years.
The RoleWe are seeking a visionary and strategic Chief Development Officer to serve as the architect of our U.S. fundraising operations. For the period of 2026-2027, the CDO will also act as the Executive Director of Friends of The Anna Trust until organizational growth justifies hiring into that position. This remote, “player-coach” role requires a dynamic leader who can seamlessly navigate major gifts, institutional partnerships, and board management.
Key Responsibilities- Design and lead a global endowment campaign for The Anna Trust.
- Create three-year strategic fundraising plans and one-year implementation plans with an initial focus on major and institutional gifts.
- Develop and maintain a CRM system and implement a moves management system to increase donor numbers and gift sizes.
- Recruit 4-6 additional U.S. Board members and collaborate closely with leadership in Rome to ensure coordinated strategy and compliance.
- Act as the primary U.S. spokesperson, seeking opportunities to lift the brand via speaking, writing, and social media.
- Develop organizational budgets, oversee expenditures, and report quarterly to the Board of Directors on fundraising and budget performance.
- Significant experience as a senior fundraiser in a similar organization (e.g., Foundation, NGO, religious congregation) with demonstrated success in growing organizational funding.
- Extensive fundraising experience at the Major Gifts level of commitment.
- Mastery of CRM platforms to drive data-driven decision making.
- Superb communication skills and experience as a public speaker and advocate at the highest levels.
- Knowledge of and profound respect for the work of Catholic sisters globally, combined with an entrepreneurial and strategic mindset.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally to cultivate, solicit, and steward donors and philanthropic institutions.
