The Rome Common Services Center (CSC) will be newly established following the relocation of several UNICEF HQ Divisions to Rome, where they will be co-located with WFP HQ. The Rome CSC will play a critical role in delivering operational support to all UNICEF Divisions based in Rome and in coordinating closely with WFP on services provided to UNICEF.

  • Connectivity and Performance: supporting the maintenance and monitoring of network infrastructure.
  • Assisting with cloud configurations and routine monitoring.
  • Providing technical support and escalating complex issues.
  • Supporting telecommunications and usage tracking for cost recovery.
  • Security and Integrity: implementing security controls under supervision, performing backups, assisting with compliance checks, acting as first‑line cybersecurity focal point, and supporting emergency telecom setup and user access maintenance.
  • Scalability and Future‑Proofing: monitoring capacity, reporting needs, supporting implementation of upgrades and expansions, assisting with SLA monitoring and routine coordination with WFP.
  • Reliability and Support: troubleshooting and providing frontline support per SLA, coordinating approved change requests, providing AV technical support and ensuring daily readiness.
  • Cost‑Effectiveness: monitoring ICT resource usage, suggesting efficiency improvements, and assisting with tracking cloud subscriptions and providing cost‑related inputs.
Education
  • A University Degree (Bachelor's) in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • Professional and/or university courses related to Project Management, Business Analysis, Data Modeling, AI are an asset.
  • ITIL Foundation Certificate or equivalent customer support certification is an asset.
Experience
  • A minimum of two (2) years of professional experience in providing ICT support for multi‑office or division setups at the national or international level.
  • Extensive hands‑on experience with enterprise network infrastructure, cloud platforms, AV and telecommunications, including optimizing performance and managing cloud‑based telephony solutions.
  • Proven ability to implement robust cybersecurity controls, manage data backup and protection strategies, serve as a focal point for incident response and user identity management.
  • Experience in IT system reliability and disaster recovery planning.
  • Skilled in planning and executing infrastructure upgrades, negotiating and managing SLAs, and coordinating with cross‑organizational technical teams for support and project delivery (asset).
  • Experience managing and maintaining cloud services such as IaaS, PaaS (asset).
  • Experience with service integration using major cloud services such as Azure Integration Services (asset).
  • Experience with ServiceNow and Meraki is desirable.
  • Prior experience in the development sector, UN system, international NGOs and emergency operations is an asset.
  • Relevant experience at country level, especially in development, fragile settings and humanitarian context is an asset.
Language Requirements
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
