Flight Dynamics Operations Engineer – Space (Roma / Mola di Bari)
You will be responsible for operational flight dynamics support for an Earth Observation mission.
Responsibilities
- Planning maneuvers and analyzing orbital events, including conjunctions
- Monitoring and calculating satellite orbit during different operational phases
- Defining and optimizing FDS workflows
- Developing, validating and updating FDS operating procedures
- Supporting preparation and participation in System Operations Validation Test campaigns
- Operational activities related to LEOP, commissioning and on‑console/on‑call support
- Managing nominal and emergency operations related to flight dynamics
- Collaborating with Ground Segment Engineering teams to improve in‑orbit control strategies and develop flight dynamics facilities for future missions
Qualifications
- Bachelor or Master degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or related disciplines
- Experience in mission operations, orbit determination, satellite dynamics or similar activities
- Good knowledge of orbital dynamics and satellite attitude dynamics
- At least 3 years of experience in FDS activities for LEO satellites
- Knowledge of SSA and CAM management
- Strong proficiency in Python scripting
- Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems
- Good written and spoken English
- Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple tasks in parallel, and communicate clearly in time‑critical situations
- Strong organizational and coordination skills with internal and external teams
