Experteer Overview
In this role you support the Codex Alimentarius Commission’s work on food safety and quality standards. You will lead or backstop the Codex Secretariat activities across subsidiary bodies, aligning with the Codex Strategic Plan and fostering effective collaboration with FAO, WHO, and external partners. You help prepare agendas, papers, and reports, and you contribute to widening accessibility of standards for delegates and stakeholders. This position offers a chance to influence global food standards and trade through cross‑sector dialogue and technical leadership.

Lead the Codex Secretariat team for multiple subsidiary bodies, planning and following up on sessions
Monitor progress on standards development and strategic plan implementation
Prepare final standards for publication after Commission adoption
Draft technical papers and reports for the Commission and Executive Committee
Represent the Codex Programme at international meetings and engage with expert bodies
Oversee observer status reviews for international organizations
Provide technical advice on food standards to governments and other stakeholders
Contribute to policy and procedural improvements within Codex
Support information development for delegates through training and handbook materials
Support communications and outreach related to standard‑setting areas
Responsabilità
Advanced degree in a relevant field and seven years of experience in food standards or food control programmes
Working knowledge of English and proficiency in another FAO official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish)
