About FLIM LABSFLIM LABS is an innovative deep-tech company based in Rome, Italy, developing cutting-edge instrumentation and software for fluorescence lifetime imaging and analysis. Our mission is to bring state-of-the-art photonics and biophotonics tools from the lab to real-world biomedical and industrial applications through close collaborations with top academic institutions and clinical partners.
We are currently looking for a technical-commercial profile with a background in engineering, physics, photonics, biomedical engineering or related scientific disciplines to establish and scale our international Sales and Business Development activities.
You will operate at the intersection of science, technology, and business development, working closely with engineers, researchers, distributors, and strategic partners worldwide.
Your RoleAs a Global Sales and Marketing Director, you will:
Identify,
and manage new business opportunities across key markets (research,industrial)
Support customers and distributors in identifying the most suitable FLIM
and fluorescence lifetime solutions for their applications
Scout and onboard
new distributors and strategic partners at national and international level
Build and maintain
technical-commercial relationships with distributors, research laboratories, OEM partners, and key accounts
Coordinate distributor enablement activities, including onboarding, technical training, sales support materials, and commercial follow-up
Manage the full sales cycle
: lead generation, qualification, negotiation, and closing
Collaborate with CEO
to define and execute go-to-market strategies
Deliver technical product presentations,
application-oriented demonstrations, and scientific-commercial training sessions for distributors and customers
Monitor market trends,
competitors, and customer needs to inform business decisions
Actively identify, evaluate, and propose strategic trade fairs
and industry events to support business development and international growth
Define, track, and optimize sales KPIs
and performance metrics;
prepare sales forecasts, reports, and pipeline analysis
Represent the company at international trade fairs
, conferences, and business events
Work closely with R&D and application specialists to align customer feedback with product
development
Education & Background
Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA)
or in Physics, Photonics, Biomedical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Life Sciences, or related scientific/technical fields
Degree in
Physics, Engineering, Photonics, Biomedical Engineering, Life Sciences, or related scientific fields
Proven experience in sales, business development, or commercial roles
(preferably in deep-tech, scientific instrumentation, or B2B environments)
Technical & Commercial Skills
Strong understanding of B2B sales
processes and distribution models
Ability to define and monitor
KPIs, sales funnels, and performance metrics
Experience
managing international distributors
, channel partners, or technical sales networks
Hands-on experience with CRM tools
and sales reporting systems
Experience in contract
management and negotiation
Experience
delivering technical training
, workshops, or application-focused customer support
Familiarity with research environments
, laboratories, universities, hospitals, or advanced R&D ecosystems

and in a fast-paced startup environment
Fluent in Italian and English;
additional languages are a plus (Spanish and Chinese preferred)
Additional Requirements
Valid EU work permit / authorization to work in Italy
Driving license (Category B)
Availability to travel frequently (Italy and abroad)
Nice to Have
Previous experience in FLIM, fluorescence spectroscopy, microscopy, TCSPC, laser instrumentation, or biophotonics
Existing network of distributors or contacts in relevant industries
Experience in startup or high-growth environments
Background in marketing strategy or digital marketing
Experience working with international clients or in export sales
