Job Title: Research Assistant I

Responsibilities:
- Carry out experiments as instructed by the Principal Investigator (PI). Assist with experimental procedures involving bacteria, preparing reagents and solutions, and making direct experimental measurements.
- Perform basic lab techniques required to complete the project, including animal care, Western blot analysis, reporter assays, biofilm and motility assays.
- Gather, organize, and record data; perform simple analysis of results; assist with library and/or electronic research; incorporate new protocols and methodologies into work as directed by PI and/or senior lab staff.
- Assist in ordering lab supplies when required; maintain orderly records of purchases.
- Maintain a safe and orderly lab environment; ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Perform techniques and assist with experiments specific to lab and in accordance with direction from individual PI.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Support research projects by performing routine cultures, western blot, gel electrophoresis, and other routine molecular and cellular biology assays and analyses as instructed by the PI and other lab members.
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience:
- Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent training acquired via work experience.
- Education Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree.
- Experience Required: None.
- Experience Preferred: 1-2 years of previous job‑related experience.
Computer Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, internet, and email applications.
Physical Demands: Lifting, Standing.
Working Conditions: Lighting, Odors, Animals.
Salary: Position Minimum $17/hr; Position Maximum $20/hr.
