A protagonist in the main strategic programs at a global level, it is a technological and industrial partner of Governments, Defense Administrations, Institutions and companies.Within the **Space Division**, we are looking for a **Satellite Communication Engineer** for our office in **Rome – Via Faustiniana.****The person will be responsible for**:* Participating in national and international projects for the development of Satellite Communication Systems at the Space Segment, Ground Segment or User Segment level in the context of ASI, ESA, EUSPA and other funding bodies, as well as in projects conducted by Leonardo in collaboration with other entities.* Participating in activities inherent to the design of advanced multi-orbit (at least LEO and GEO) and multi-frequency satellite communication systems such as, but not limited to, the design of on-board payloads, regenerative and transparent, development of Link Budgets, Inter-Satellite Links, Quantum and QKD communications, Cloud and Data Storage solutions in space, orchestration and use of AI solutions.* Participating in the work of international sector committees and associations for the development of standards and regulations such as ETSI and ITU.**Education:*** Master's Degree in Electronic and/or Aerospace Engineering, with a specialization in Telecommunications.Nice to have: Master or PhD in Secure Satellite Communications, Quantum Communication or QKD**Required experience level:*** Junior: 1-3 years of experience in the role**Technical skills and knowledge:*** Design of Satellite Communication Systems or design of on-board payloads and antennas, acquired in funded national and international projects.* Theoretical knowledge of multiple access techniques, error correction, Link Budget design, satellite signal propagation and cryptographic techniques, as well as knowledge of the application of Inter-Satellite Links for satellite communications.Experience, even brief, in one or more of the following areas is a plus: design and use of Phased-Array antennas and beamforming techniques, knowledge of advanced user terminal design, knowledge and application of quantum cryptographic techniques, QKD, design and development of Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity solutions, Cloud system design or knowledge of ETSI 3GPP standards and related NTN (Non-Terrestrial Network) approach.**Behavioral skills:*** Team work* Collaboration* Analytical skills* Proactivity* Analytical thinking**Language skills:*** English (min B2 level).Nice to Have: knowledge of an additional language such as French or German.**IT skills:*** Programming languages using C/C++, Python, Matlab and use of Ansys STK.Nice to Have: knowledge and use of Ansys STK.**Other:*** Availability for international travel**Seniority:**Junior**Primary Location:**IT - Roma - Via Faustiniana**Contract Type:**Permanent**Hybrid Working:**Hybrid
