Role Description

The Sales Director is a full-time, on-site role based at San Clemente Palace Venice in Venice. The Sales Director orchestrates the execution of sales strategies to maximise revenue across key market segments, including leisure, corporate and group business. Must lead and mentor the sales team, set performance targets, monitor results, and ensure adherence to brand and service standards. Daily responsibilities include managing key accounts, conducting sales visits and site inspections, negotiating contracts and rate agreements, and maintaining strong relationships with travel partners, agencies and corporate clients. Also required to analyse market trends and competitors, prepare sales forecasts and reports, collaborate with marketing and revenue management teams, and represent the property at trade shows and industry events.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in sales and business development with a strong track record in hospitality or luxury services.
  • Experience in sales operations including pipeline management, reporting, forecasting and use of CRM systems.
  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to build long‑term client relationships and deliver personalised service to high‑end customers.
  • Proven team‑management skills, including leading, coaching and developing sales professionals toward shared goals.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills, fluent in English; Italian and additional languages are an advantage.
  • Solid analytical and strategic thinking abilities, comfortable working with data to guide decisions and optimise sales performance.
  • Experience in luxury hospitality, travel or related sectors preferred, with knowledge of international markets and distribution channels.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, hospitality management or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Ability to work onsite in Venice, travel for client meetings and events as needed, and maintain flexibility in working hours based on business needs.
