As Mechanical Lifting & DROPS SME Lead, you act as the Mutriba Project authority for safe design, planning, execution, and continuous improvement of lifting and DROPS activities. You oversee planning, execution, and assurance across project phases and contractor interfaces to ensure compliance with SLB standards and client/regulatory requirements. You will lead lifting operations planning, risk assessment, audits, and competency programs, while coordinating with the customer’s Lifting Authority. This role offers impact through driving safety, reliability, and DROPS program integrity within a multi-contractor environment.

- Lead the development, execution, and review of Mechanical Lifting Plans (MLPs) for all project phases with prevention measures
- Validate critical and non‑routine lifting plans from SLB and contractors and route per categorization
- Supervise Non‑Routine, Critical, and Complex lifts at multiple locations (rig moves, skidding, demobilization)
- Ensure lifting risk assessments (HARC/JSA) are complete before operations start
- Assess PJSMs for mechanical lifting and ensure controls are communicated and understood
- Advise and halt lifting ops in adverse weather and enforce suspension/resumption criteria
- Establish and audit Project Lifting Equipment Registers; ensure equipment is certified, color‑coded, fit‑for‑purpose
- Verify third‑party lifting equipment holds valid certification (LEE Accredited or equivalent)
- Maintain storage and in‑service maintenance of lifting gear per project/client requirements
- Drive compliance with SLB mechanical lifting standards and books across contractor interfaces
- Conduct frequent ML audits and track corrective actions
- Perform ML assessments for AAIP compliance
- Report lifting events in QUEST; support incident investigations
- Lead or participate in ML‑related investigations and root‑cause analyses
- Coach and verify competency of ML personnel; maintain records and renewals
- Deliver ML awareness and technical training as needed
- Serve as primary interface with customer’s Lifting Authority for ML plans and regulatory compliance
- DROPS Authority – Dexterity of DROPS program integrity across Mutriba project
- Review DROPS Inspection Reports and validate findings, effectiveness, and corrective actions
- Validate DROPS implementation including zones, barrier deployment, DROPS Picture Books, tethered tools
- Audit DROPS program across project phases for compliance with SLB-HSE-S023 and DROPS B.O.O.K.
- Verify DROPS inspection checklists and schedules
- Support site‑level HSE in identifying dropped object and Work at Height hazards
- Ensure DROPS incidents are reported, investigated, and lessons learned disseminated
- Maintain DROPS performance metrics and elevate non‑conformances
- Participate in HAZOP/HARC as ML & DROPS SME
- Support development/review of ML/DROPS related HSE Plans and procedures
- Contribute to pre‑mobilization readiness reviews as ML/DROPS technical authority
- Support lifting‑related emergency response planning and AAIP contributions
- Authority to stop non‑compliant lift work and to remove defective equipment
- Authority to withhold validation for non‑compliant sites
- Authority to elevate non‑conformances to Contractor and Project Management
Responsabilità
- Bachelor in Engineering or Technical Career
- LEEA Appointed Person for Lifting Operations or similar
- Third‑party certification credited by LEEA or NSL
- DROPS Level 3 – Focal Point
- Minimum 10 years in a dedicated Mechanical Lifting supervisory or SME role, preferably in Oil & Gas
- Experience supervising crane, rigging, and lifting crews in multi‑contractor onshore environments
- Experience conducting DROPS program audits and managing DROPS systems at rig/field level
- Fluent English; Arabic an advantage
