Tenured Associate Professor in Statistics or Econometrics (f/m/d)

Position

The Faculty of Economics and Management of the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano invites applications for a tenured Associate Professor position in the Scientific Group: Statistics (13/STAT-01) or Econometrics (13/ECON-05). The appointment will be at the Bolzano campus, starting January2027.

Responsibilities

• Teach at least 120 hours per year at undergraduate, master, and doctoral levels.
• Supervise students and trainees.
• Lead and develop research initiatives in the person’s field of expertise within the “Data Science and Mathematical Methods” cluster.
• Contribute to the department’s international visibility and engage in interdisciplinary research.
• Participate in departmental, university, and professional service activities.

Qualifications

• PhD in Statistics, Econometrics, or a closely related discipline.
• Strong background in mathematics, computation, and statistical methods.
• Outstanding record of scientific publications in high‑impact journals.
• Solid teaching record at the BSc, MSc, and PhD levels.
• Proficiency in English plus at least one of German or Italian at native or C1 level.
• Independent, internationally visible research profile with emphasis on methodological, mathematical, and computational aspects of data analysis.
• Preferred areas of interest include high‑dimensional inference, spatio‑temporal modeling, big‑data analytics, statistical learning, machine learning, computational statistics, and optimization‑based methods.
• Ability to attract competitive external research funding is desirable.
• Eligibility: only candidates already holding an academic position equivalent to Associate Professor at a foreign (non‑Italian) university may apply.
