Location: Milan or Turin, Italy (Hybrid – 3 days onsite, 2 days remote) Type: Permanent, Full-time Language: English (Italian, Spanish, or French is a plus) Compensation: €88,000 – €92,000 base + 15% Bonus + up to €7,000 net Welfare Bonus / year We are partnering with a leading international digital product company on a mission to completely revolutionise their data capabilities. They are modernising their core Data Platform from the ground up and need a visionary leader to drive this journey from their hubs in Milan or Turin . What You Will DoLead the Transition: Evolve a contractor-reliant ecosystem into a powerhouse internal engineering unit, mentoring and upskilling team members from day on e.Drive the Platform Pilot: Take direct technical ownership of the data platform roadmap, steering the business through a cutting-edge Data Lakehouse and Data Mesh pilo t.Collaborative Architecture: Partner with Data Architects, Product Management, and Governance to design scalable systems and lead critical Proofs of Concept (POCs ).Champion Best Practices: Build robust batch ingestion/validation pipelines using medallion architecture, while enforcing top-tier data governance and observability framework s. What We Need From YouProven Management Tenure: 4–6 years of direct people management experience (with around 10+ years total in tech). Note: This requires an established manager, not a senior IC looking for their first step up.Product Company DNA: A strong background working within fast-paced, scale-up digital product or SaaS environmen ts.Modern Stack Relevance: Highly proficient in Python, SQL, Snowflake, and Airflow within an AWS environment (using Terraform for Ia C).Work Authorisation: Must possess a valid EU work permit or citizenship (sponsorship is not availabl e). Bonus Points If You HaveHands-on experience or deep familiarity with Apache Iceberg or Delta L ake.Experience handling real-time data streaming at sc ale.
