AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure customers have continual access to the innovations they rely on. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You will collaborate with people across AWS to deliver safety, security, and capacity at the lowest cost, while fostering an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers ownership to completion.

Data‑driven decision‑making is core to Amazon’s culture. Your work will build insights from large data sets to directly impact decisions and strategy across the AWS Infrastructure Services organization and our customers. The successful BIE will analyze data, design metrics, and build reporting capabilities and tools, and share insights with senior leadership and business partners.

The candidate must be an expert in data analytics (engineering and visualizations), comfortable with ambiguity in a fast‑paced environment, and able to think big while paying attention to detail. The role requires strong analytical abilities, deep knowledge of tools and platforms (SQL, Tableau, Redshift, Glue, Airflow), and clear communication skills with business owners and analytics teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of scalable solutions for ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc., to support analytical and business needs.
  • Work directly with customers to understand business problems and propose impactful analyses and solutions.
  • Partner with data engineers to develop automated solutions.
  • Develop a deep understanding of AWS data sources and identify which to use to solve specific business problems.
  • Manage prioritization of business intelligence requests, allocate work across the team, and manage customer communications.
  • Lead the creation of user‑friendly repeatable reporting solutions to minimize ad‑hoc customer requests.
  • Hire, mentor, and develop business intelligence engineers.
  • Serve as a senior SME and mentor for SQL and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau).
  • Write high‑quality SQL to retrieve and analyze data from relational databases (e.g., AWS Redshift).
  • Manage and improve internal customer communication channels (e.g., wikis, data dictionaries).

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of business intelligence and analytics experience.
  • 5+ years of delivering results managing a BI or analytics team, including employee development and performance management.
  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools.
  • Experience with R, Python, Weka, SAS, Matlab, or other statistical/machine‑learning software.
  • Experience with SQL & ETL.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of working with large data‑warehousing environments.
  • 10+ years of data‑warehouse technical architecture, data modeling, infrastructure components, ETL/ELT, and reporting/analytic tools, and hands‑on SQL coding experience.

The base salary range for this position is 143,400 USD to 194,000 USD annually.

Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
