Job Summary
This role supports data centers in various operational stages, potentially in facilities still under development. The candidate must be able to travel over 50 miles or commute less than 50 miles to active sites. The position requires U.S. citizenship and an active Top Secret with SCI clearance, with ongoing requirements for TS/SCI clearance and polygraph.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary escalation point for all facilities‑related issues and oversee operation and management of critical systems including switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, and building monitoring systems.
- Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures and troubleshoot within internal Service Level Agreements.
- Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and set team culture in partnership with Facility Manager.
- Create and deploy new standard practices for technicians, Chief Engineers, and vendor support teams.
- Assist in the build‑out of new facilities and projects to increase current facility efficiency.
- Work outside normal business hours for routine maintenance and respond to out‑of‑hours emergency calls.
- Communicate complex technical information to non‑technical audiences.
- Coordinate with IT managers and other leaders to manage capacity and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, and efficiency.
- Ensure safety procedures are adhered to by vendors and Amazon staff.
- Establish building performance benchmarks, conduct analyses, and prepare reports on all facets of critical facility operations.
- Use Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and other administrative tools for day‑to‑day tasks.
Physical Requirements
- Willingness and demonstrated ability to work in conditions with reasonable accommodations.
- Regularly lift or move up to 39 pounds independently and participate in group lifts up to 40 pounds.
- Maintain balance and perform construction tasks while on a ladder.
- Regularly walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, climb stairs, twist, bend, work above shoulders, grasp, carry, push and pull objects into position.
- Work in an environment requiring provided ear protection.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience carrying new design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment or mass production.
- Experience in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Windows Operating Systems.
- Experience with power management and power monitoring systems.
- Current, active U.S. Government security clearance of Top Secret with SCI eligibility or above.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of project management in data centers or comparable critical infrastructure.
- Knowledge of critical data center equipment.
- Knowledge of engineering documentation, electrical diagrams and standard operating procedures.
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations including Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, or OSHA.
- Experience in Data Center Engineering Operations with deep understanding of electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
