AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. It supports all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. Responsibilities

  • Ownership of all Data Center changes, events, incidents, and problems from beginning to end, including post‑mortems, root cause analysis, and follow‑up resolution actions.
  • Ensuring maintenance and repairs of site‑critical facility infrastructure or a Data Center are planned and executed to the best interest of the business.
  • Asset and inventory management.
  • Developing and maintaining method statements, standard operating procedures, emergency response procedures, preventive maintenance programs, and all technical documentation.
  • Ensuring standardization and consistency with best‑in‑class operating practices, including technical writing and automation.
  • Developing a deep knowledge of the design intent, operational alternatives and contingency plans related to all Data Center systems.
  • Managing the engineering aspects of the Data Centers related to financial and cost control, code and regulatory compliance, personnel management, staff training, and development.
  • Health & safety, local statutory requirements, environmental and energy management.
  • Developing and delivering regular engineering reports and ensuring adherence to contracted deliverables, including SLAs and KPIs.
  • Communicating operating philosophies, technical information, objectives and expectations to Amazon personnel and vendor critical facilities management teams.
  • Providing hands‑on facility support where required (e.g., installation, decommissioning, replacement of equipment, internal audits).
  • Overseeing technical compliance auditing and timely close‑out of corrective action plans, performing annual operational reviews with a focus on compliance with Amazon standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Managing the development and delivery of the portfolio of Energy/Environmental Management Programs and keeping abreast of Data Center industry innovation.

Incident and Emergency Response

  • Reviewing incident reports, documenting periodic trend summaries, and providing updates and recommended actions to management.
  • Managing information flow during incidents while providing regular updates to management.
  • Coordinating with vendors to resolve any incidents during emergency situations, including on‑site investigations and resolutions when necessary.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • On‑site management of contractors, sub‑contractors, and vendors, ensuring work is performed in accordance with established practices, procedures, and local legislation.
  • Establishing performance benchmarks, conducting analyses, and preparing reports on all aspects of the data center facility infrastructure operations and maintenance.
  • Co‑ordinating projects with DCO managers (IT) and other business leaders to manage capacity and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, sustainability and efficiency.
  • Supporting the installation of racks and the provision of power and cooling.

A Day in the Life

  • Assisting in troubleshooting of facility and rack‑level events within internal Service Level Agreements.
  • Performing rack installs, rack decommissioning, and facility management.
  • Providing operational readings and key performance indicators to maintain uptime.
  • Overseeing maintenance and operations on all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of relevant work in a Data Center or other critical environment experience.
  • 3+ years of Data Center engineering or operations experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of Data Center engineering or operations experience.
  • Experience in electrical or mechanical engineering.
  • 3+ years of vendor management experience.
  • 3+ years of Microsoft Office experience, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
