Transportation Financial Systems (TFS) team is looking for a talented and highly motivated Sr. Program Manager who enjoys solving challenging and complex business problems at Amazon scale.

Welcome to Transportation Financial Systems (TFS), where we are building multiple financial automation products and functionalities to meet Amazon’s ever‑growing finance and accounting customer requirements. You will be in a well‑funded, highly technical, and highly visible business critical tech platform team.

We are a technology team focused on building a suite of products for transportation financial systems and beyond that enable Amazon business units (BUs) to add new offerings at scale. Our products abstract complexities from the world of accounting, invoicing, audit, payment, taxation, and allocation at the required level of fidelity and insights to build generic solutions scalable to multiple businesses and geographies. We ensure that financial functions are complete, accurate, timely and compliant with worldwide regulatory and tax requirements. Our software systems include services that handle thousands of requests per second and make decisions to pay billions of dollars a year and ensure that transportation’s liabilities and revenues are correctly accounted.

Our current team comprises of ~200+ engineering organization and a Program management team of 10+ TPMs and Program Managers with great growth and lateral opportunity.

We are looking for a high caliber Senior Program Manager (Sr. PM) who enjoys working on challenging, high impact business problems. The Sr. PM will manage business onboarding to our systems and services, prioritize opportunities in tech systems/process flows and support the functional systems to deliver to defined goals. Successful candidates will be analytical, highly‑organized, accustomed to working with technical teams, able to bridge the gap between business and tech, clear communicators, and interested in getting deep into the details of our business. This Program Manager is a high‑visible role as s/he will front end with Senior Leaders across Amazon Organization.

Key job responsibilities

  • Understand the functional flow of TFS onboarded businesses and key TFS capabilities required to enable transportation finance processes (account payables and receivables) and identify opportunities to refine both.
  • Manage the month‑end close (MEC) process with a team of SMEs in TFS and partner teams, identify short‑term solutions and work with Product/SDM on long‑term solutions to eliminate or mitigate MEC issues through technical solves or process fixes.
  • Identify opportunities to automate the MEC process and reduce dependency on TFS for customers in Controllership and Accounting teams.
  • Evaluate self‑serve opportunities to reduce overhead load on TFS, document dashboard or tool requirements and present to TFS Tech team to build consensus for solutions to self‑serve on commonly occurring MEC issues.
  • Work closely with Product/SDM to define the roadmap.

TFS has over 200+ engineers, and 20+ product & program managers. Each Program Manager is responsible for delivering large to medium programs; working closely with business teams and product, building transformation roadmaps to deliver long term benefits for our customers.

About the team

Transportation Financial Systems (TFS) platform owns the technology components that perform the financial activities for Amazon’s transportation business. TFS systems are used across all Amazon’s transportation programs and retail expansion to new geographies. The platform provides financial document creation & management, expense auditing, accounting, payments and cost allocation functions. Our new generation products are highly scalable and operate at finer level granularity to reconcile every dollar in transportation financial accounts with zero manual entries or corrections. The goal is to develop a global product suite for all freight modes touching every single package movement across Amazon. Our mission is to abstract logistics complexities from the financial world and financial complexities from logistics world. You will be part of one of the largest tech and program teams with ~200 engineering organization with great growth and lateral opportunity.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of working cross‑functionally with tech and non‑tech teams
  • 5+ years of program or project management experience
  • 5+ years of delivering cross‑functional projects experience
  • Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of driving process improvements experience
  • Master's degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field
