Senior Hardware and Systems Integration Engineer, Amazon Leo OISL Job ID: 3188819 | Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLCAmazon Leo is building a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites to provide low‑latency, high‑speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities worldwide. We’re looking for a talented Hardware and Systems Integration Engineer to join our Prototyping and Integration (PI) Team, supporting development of high‑bandwidth optical intersatellite communication systems.The PI‑Team accelerates hardware development through rapid prototyping, manufacturing, and integration of novel Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) and systems for the Optical Intersatellite Link organization. Our learnings are directly applied to scale aerospace manufacturing processes and enable risk reduction through comprehensive Design Verification Testing (DVT) and qualification testing.As a Hardware and Systems Integration Engineer, you will be a technical leader who balances deep hands‑on expertise with the ability to navigate ambiguity and deliver results for our internal customer teams. You will work at the intersection of electrical, mechanical, and optical systems—designing test infrastructure, bringing up complex hardware test racks, leading integration activities, and driving technical innovation in prototyping processes.Key Job ResponsibilitiesLead design, build, and bringup of hardware test systems and automated test equipment for OISL LRU developmentSupport qualification and DVT testing across multiple systemsDrive integration and test activities for complex electromechanical systems, including PCBA testing, optical systems validation, and avionics hardware verificationDevelop and validate test procedures, fixtures, and automation solutions using Python, Lab VIEW, and other programming tools to optimize test efficiency and data qualityCollaborate cross‑functionally with development/design engineers, manufacturing engineering, production operations, and quality assurance teams to resolve hardware testing issues and implement corrective actionsDebug and troubleshoot complex hardware systems using oscilloscopes, VNAs, power supplies, and DMMs; lead technical deep dives on failures, non‑conformances, and test anomaliesSupport electrical integration activities including wire harness fabrication, PCBA rework, and hipot testing in cleanroom and lab environmentsNavigate ambiguity in fast‑paced development cycles, making sound technical decisions with incomplete information to keep programs on scheduleExport Control Requirement Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U. Our service areas span hardware fabrication, electrical integration, electromechanical hardware development (test rack design and bringup, device design and validation), DVT and qualification testing (environmental testing, optical metrology, reliability testing), and quality assurance. Success requires high motivation, attention to detail, and the highest standards of execution, plus the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment and make decisions with incomplete information.Basic QualificationsBachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or a relevant engineering disciplineExperience interpreting mechanical and electrical drawingsExperience in test setup automation using MATLAB, Python, or PearlExperience leading cross‑functional teams to deliver products and projects on tight deadlinesExperience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems, or experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities7+ years of professional experience in hardware development, integration, or test engineering in aerospace, defense, or high‑reliability electronics industriesExperience with complex electromechanical systems integration, assembly, and testExperience designing test fixtures, test racks, or automated test equipmentExperience with electrical test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, signal generators, data acquisition systems) and PCBA testing techniques (JTAG, functional test, ICT)Preferred Qualifications5+ years of hardware development, test lab, space/aerospace maintenance or hands‑on engineering environment experienceExperience with product‑level validation testing (Thermal, EMC/EMI, Shock, Cycle Testing, etc.)Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass productionExperience working with Git or an equivalent distributed version control systemExperience in written and verbal communication with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to executives and non‑technical leadersExpert knowledge of space hardware standards (NASA‑STD‑8739.4 A, IPC‑A‑610, IPC/WHMA‑A‑620, J‑STD‑001)Experience with electronic testing, optical systems integration, or avionics hardware validationCompensation and Benefits The base salary range for this position is $137,300.00 – $185,700.00 USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs).
