Overview
H-FARM International School Venice is a continuing period of growth, with a boarding community of over 200 students drawn from across the world. We are seeking an exceptional Head of Boarding to lead and shape a residential environment that is safe, ambitious, humane and intellectually alive. The Head of Boarding is a senior pastoral leader who will cultivate a family‑centred boarding culture grounded in the School’s Six Dimensions of Success: emotional, social, learning, community, language and future preparedness. The role requires a deep commitment to the individual growth of each student and to the creation of a boarding experience that empowers young people to become confident, principled and future‑ready. The successful candidate will lead a large and growing residential team, serve as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, and act as a visible daily presence in the life of the houses. Safeguarding is central to the role: the Head of Boarding is expected to model, promote and enforce the highest standards of child protection and student welfare in line with Nord Anglia Education expectations. They will contribute to the wider life of the School through extracurricular and, where appropriate, academic engagement.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for a boarding community of 200+ students, ensuring excellence in pastoral care, safeguarding and student experience.
- Contribute to the Campus Senior Leadership Team, shaping school strategy and decision‑making.
- Promote a safeguarding culture where student safety, dignity and wellbeing are the priority.
- Line‑manage Houseparents, Coordinators and Boarding Assistants, setting clear expectations and supporting professional accountability and development.
- Chair boarding leadership meetings and collaborate with programme leaders and the Head of School.
- Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring compliance with relevant safeguarding legislation and institutional policies.
- Maintain a visible daily presence in the houses to support students and staff.
- Implement and monitor boarding policies and procedures to maintain a safe and nurturing environment.
- Develop and oversee programmes that foster personal growth, academic engagement and community spirit among boarding students.
