Responsibilities
- Manage all warehousing activities, including space planning, inventory control, and issuing general supply mission stock ranging from simple items to complex equipment such as furniture, hand tools, chemical, electrical, weapons, vehicles, and radioactive material.
- Operate warehouse tugs and forklift trucks up to 15,000‑lb capacity to unload, store, transport, and load items, maintaining safety and lift limits.
- Accurately uncrate, unpack, wrap, assemble, and record stock details (number, nomenclature, quantity, condition, shortages, overages) for receipt in the OHASIS system.
- Store items in bins, pallet racks, and bulk locations, rearranging as needed for optimal space usage and compliance with security measures.
- Maintain neat, clean storage conditions, applying safety and fire‑prevention precautions, especially for flammable items.
- Withdraw stock according to OHASIS pick lists, ensuring FIFO removal and correct handling of nomenclature, quantity, and identification data.
- Assist with substitution requests involving depot property personnel and coordinate direct delivery issues when possible.
- Prepare items for shipment, including assembling, packaging, boxing, marking, and completing required documentation.
- Handle bulk items by disassembling as necessary and securing shipments with blocking, bracing, strapping, and staying to meet railroad and depot shipping requirements.
- Deliver shipments to the central shipping point, verifying transportation allotment numbers and correct mode (rail, truck, express, depot driver, air, domestic or overseas).
- Pack or repack multiple classes of items using designated packing methods and standards, ensuring correct stock, model or serial numbers, and verification against accompanying documents.
- Report discrepancies to supervisor, perform corrective actions, and document findings.
- Conduct cleaning, maintenance of packaging equipment, and physical handling of moderately heavy objects.
- Input data from scanners and documents (receipts, shipping documents, DD Form 1348, packing lists) into OHASIS.
- Print placards, inventories, and perform random location surveys to verify accuracy, recording any discrepancies in OHASIS.
- Maintain forklift and tractor operational records, perform routine operator maintenance, and block or unblock vehicles and containers on rail and truck transport.
- Prepare wooden blocking and bracing materials required to secure cargo on rail cars or trucks.
- Process item selection for issues with incomplete documentation, using barcode scanners or manual input into OHASIS.
- Update locator cards and make substitution recommendations when applicable.
Work Schedule
40 hours per week, Monday‑Friday 07:00‑16:00, including a 1‑hour uncompensated lunch break.
Qualifications
- Ability to perform work with minimal supervision.
- Strict adherence to cleanliness, organization, and work practices.
- Proficiency in interpreting instructions and specifications.
- Knowledge of material handling and warehousing practices.
- Dexterity, safety awareness, and technical competence.
- Working knowledge of the English language (written and oral).
Required Documentation
- Valid Italian driver’s license type "B".
- Valid qualification to operate material handling equipment (article 73 of D.Lgs 81/2008 and Accordo Conferenza Stato Regioni, 22 February 2012).
- Valid passport.
- Ability to travel internationally without restrictions for any period and obtain a military driver’s license equivalent to the Italian driver’s license type "B".
