As Head of Oncology, you lead the R&D strategy for oncology, steering cross-functional teams and strategic partnerships to build a differentiated, pipeline-driven portfolio. You drive innovation across internal assets and external collaborations, including spin-out opportunities, with a focus on translating science into impactful therapies. You will lead the Oncology R&D group and Evotec's Innovate Oncology initiatives, shaping the company's position as a leader in the field. This role blends scientific excellence with strategic execution to accelerate value creation for patients and partners.

  • Define and own the overarching oncology R&D strategy and internal pipeline development
  • Lead strategic collaborations with pharma/biotech to broaden the candidate portfolio and achieve research and commercial goals
  • Line manage the Oncology RnD team and the BMS-Onco core team
  • Steer the Innovate Oncology platform portfolio and drive next-generation, commercially viable innovations
  • Develop, defend, and manage the oncology R&D budget
  • Provide disease know-how and drug discovery expertise to support internal oncology efforts
  • Foster relationships with collaborators to ensure project delivery

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to convert R&D projects into partnerships

Responsabilità

  • PhD in molecular biology/biochemistry or related life science subject
  • Several years of cancer biology expertise in drug discovery and development
  • Strong strategic and technical understanding of pharma R&D value chain in oncology
  • Hands‑on experience in target ID to IND filing and translational science
  • Proven leadership and cross‑departmental, multi‑site project management
  • Excellent collaboration, networking and stakeholder management skills
  • Flexible, proactive problem‑solving and decision‑making ability
  • Experience driving collaborations and identifying innovation opportunities
  • Experience in resource monitoring and budget‑related oversight
  • Strong communication and representation skills
