Job Description Day in the Life: What is a Medical Assistant? A Medical Assistant is an allied health professional who supports Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers in a clinic setting. The role includes both clinical and administrative duties and frequent interaction with patients and their families. Administrative Duties may include:

Answering phones Greeting patients Documenting and updating medical records Coding and filling out insurance forms Scheduling appointments Arranging for hospital admissions, referrals and laboratory services Using computer applications

Clinical Duties may include:

Taking medical histories Explaining treatment and procedures to patients Timely follow through and completion of referral requests Preparing patients for examination Assisting the physician during exams Collecting and preparing lab specimens Performing basic laboratory tests including blood draws Instructing patients via standardized pathways and protocols Preparing and administrating medications as directed by the physician Injections Removing sutures and changing dressings Other clinical services as required by specialty

Compensation:

Starting Pay: $17.01 / hour After completion of 180 day introductory period, increase to: $17.26 / hour Upon receiving certification: $20.44 - $24.52 (commensurate with experience)

Qualifications What's Required

Highschool Diploma or GED

Munson Healthcare requires all employees be vaccinated or have lab confirmed immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella.
