Job Title:Business Development Director - Global Systems, Maritime SectorJob Code:BDM7Job Location:EuropeJob Description The successful candidate will partner closely with the Vice President of Business Development for the Maritime Sector and the Vice President/General Manager of Global Systems, as well as government relations, technical teams, and functional organizations. This role is responsible for driving strategic growth by engaging customers, identifying new business opportunities, and supporting corporate and segment-level strategic initiatives. The position will lead the global Business Development team for the Global Systems Division and oversee all business development activities across the division. The candidate will manage multiple growth campaigns, develop and execute a global business strategy, and build targeted regional and partnership-focused plans. A key objective is to protect and expand current international maritime franchises while positioning the organization for future global opportunities.Essential FunctionsLead initiatives associated with all new business growth areas in the Global Systems DivisionSupport Global Systems Division objectives and participate as an active member of the Division teamServe as liaison to Sector growth initiatives representing Global Systems interestsEstablish strong and intimate relationships with key international regional customersIdentify new and adjacent markets, unmet customer needs and opportunities to expand existing programs/productsAllocate and recommend discretionary resources as needed to shape and win opportunities and achieve financial goalsPrioritize campaign engagements leveraging Senior Management participationSupport collection of competitive intelligence and information and win strategy development to enhance L3 Harris understanding of customers and competitor strategiesCreate and foster a business acumen culture that embraces a strategic, proactive approach to support business area leaders with identifying, actively pursuing and closing new businessCollaborate with BD teammates including marketing communications, business development leaders, and capture teamsSupport new opportunity qualification process including “connect-the-dots” across other L3 Harris sectors/divisions to ensure we provide best value to customersEmbrace a culture of “continuous learning” to improve our understanding of the technical drivers our existing and potential new customers seek to improve their mission capabilitiesEffectively translate technical understanding of our products and technology for purposes of customer communication and engagementEstimate and manage new business funds used to pursue new business opportunitiesParticipate in strategic planning for internal research and developmentExecute campaign strategies supporting business capture planningLead / support business acquisition process milestone/gate reviews; to include opportunity identification, qualification, pursuit, pre-proposal, and proposal processesManage the Global Systems Division’s opportunity pipelineOrganize participation in forums/conferences to further position L3 Harris as a thought leader in the global Maritime industry related to specific strategic opportunitiesAct as a change agent for the business, ensuring strategies and campaigns are mission and customer focusedManage people, their work products, and professional development with the end state of new business growth for the Global Systems DivisionExperience in the International regional Markets and Maritime platform capabilitiesQualificationsBachelor's degree or higher with a minimum of 15 years of experience or a post‑graduate degree and 13 years of experience in the business development arena.Active SECRET Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a SECRET clearance.Preferred Additional SkillsExperience leading new business pursuitsExperience with ship and/or boat builders in international locationsExperience engaging with senior executives at government agencies, major prime contractors, and commercial companiesEstablished contacts within the International Maritime CommunitiesUnderstanding and familiarity with Maritime International marketsDemonstrated understanding of International Maritime mission lifecycles, including requirements development, system design and architecture, and international systems operationsMust work independently under limited supervisionAbility to lead and develop relationships with geographically dispersed peopleMust have excellent oral and written communication skillsAbility to Travel – up to 50%
