In this role you will translate Essity’s global supply chain sustainability strategy into manufacturing-focused improvement programs across sites worldwide. You will lead cross‑functional initiatives to hit long‑term environmental targets, including net‑zero CO2, waste reduction, and water stewardship, while promoting safety and well‑being. You’ll scout innovative technologies, define practical pathways to targets, and drive data‑informed decision making. This position offers leadership of the global Manufacturing Sustainability team and opportunities to shape sustainable manufacturing at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and execution of sustainability projects across global manufacturing sites
  • Advance disruptive technologies within manufacturing sustainability
  • Define pragmatic technical pathways to environmental targets aligned with the global strategy
  • Help sites identify gaps, opportunities, and create structured improvement roadmaps
  • Pilot and deploy tech for energy/material efficiency, alternative energy, waste and water reduction, and circularity
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Technology Platform teams on CAPEX and upgrades
  • Utilize site sustainability data to drive transparency and informed decisions
  • Work with site leaders, engineering, procurement and maintenance to embed sustainability in operations
  • Build partnerships with external experts, tech providers and energy suppliers
  • Lead and further develop the global Manufacturing Sustainability team
  • Strengthen capabilities via training, coaching, and change‑management support
  • Act as role model with accountability for performance and coaching within the department

Qualifications

  • University degree in Engineering or closely related field
  • 10+ years of experience in global Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Sustainability, or Industrial Operations
  • 7+ years of proven leadership experience including leading leaders in matrix organizations
  • Strong communication, stakeholder‑management, and cross‑functional collaboration skills
  • Advanced English proficiency in global collaboration
